Carnelian Tudor Renaissance Chain Necklace JewelryShown above is a close up view of the carnelian long link necklace. Here you can see the details of the workmanship. While it is not meant to be a reproduction of a specific piece of jewelry, it is made in the style and manner of Tudor jewels of it's time. This particular piece of jewelry is large enough to wear as a chain as shown in the picture. However, as a necklace it can be shortened to about twenty inches, or choker sized depending on the client's wishes. The Tudor style necklace is made of pewter as an under metal to keep it light in weight. Next the pewter is gilded very heavily in 22K gold. The jewels used in the example above are genuine carnelian. Other jewels can easily be used depending on your personal preference. Each link is about one and a half inches long. There are two jump rings used to secure each link to the other. This is done to make certain your jewelry does not fall apart. This piece of renaissance jewelry can easily be made into a matching set with a carnacet or choker and a matching longer necklace as seen in may renaissance period portraits. The link pattern used here can easily be made into a girdle with a drop of the same link pattern replacing the pendant. When wearing as a collar there are no claps needed. However when wearing as a necklace or choker there are several options available such as a regular clasp or a more period approach which would be velvet ribbon that ties in the back. |
