Couched Silk Brocade Gown Renaissance

A 3/4 quarter view of the full body of this couched renaissance gown is shown here. You can see the sleeve cap details which is reworked from a design shown in Jean Hunnisett's "Period Costume for Stage and Screen. The pattern was close enough in shape that only the sizes need to be be changed. The poufs are cartrige pleated and then sewn onto the bodice. There was some thought to adding some more couching to the scalloped edges of the sleeves, but it seemed enough was enough. Although Elizabethan clothing is know for it's intense details, even renaissance clothing would ocasionaly stop before absoutly everything was covered in embellishments.
