Silk Renaissance Gown Dress Details

DETAILS:

BODICE
The outside of the bodice made of a lilac coloured that is shot with sky blue with a textured weave.   Lined in black cotton there are ten bones in the front and four in the back. There is a second layer of canvas as an interlining to make this bodice very stiff.  The neck line and bottom of the bodice are piped in a twisted gold and silver cording for a strong well finished look.  The neck line is beaded with fresh water pearls as are edges the epaulets.  There are about 140 pearls sewn on.

The back closes with a hidden lacing system.  This gives durability and a proper appearance as though one's maid  has sewn her into her gown.

SLEEVES
The sleeves are made of a golden sage and black iridescent shot dupioni silk with strips of golden yellow couched on a diamond pattern and trimed at the cuff with silver and gold piping.  They are lined in black cotton and attach to the bodice using small hidden loops and are laced black grosgrain ribbon, giving the wearer of this gown the option of only wearing the great sleeves on hot days.

OVERSKIRT

The overskirt is cartridge pleated into the waist band, with a circumference of  150".   It is made of the same silk as the bodice.  This  will not look skimpy around your hoop.  The size is adjustable in the front with hook and eyes.

UNDERSKIRT

The fore-panel is made from of golden sage and black iridescent shot dupioni silk. There is a guard at the bottom of the forepanel made of the same silk as the sleeves.  At present it is basted on so that I can properly adjust the lenght for whomever recieves this gown.   The rest of the underskirt is made of lining fabric, that is slippery so that it slides easily over your hoop. There is also a layer of black cotton behind the fore panel . This was done to give further substance to the fore-panel so that the boning in the hoops does not show through. (A proper lady does not show her bones) It has a no-roll elastic waist band for comfort.

SIZING

Waist is fully closed at 30" with a chest measurement of aprox. 39" or 40" (You would want to be a couple of inches larger for the full "fluff" effect).  The  6 " modesty panel allows for additional room.

Waist on the overskirt and underskirt are adjustable in proportion to the bodice size.

Please remember to add room for any underpinnings such as a chemise or corset to the measurements.

CARE

Gown should be dry cleaned.  Or you can use Dryell
