Italian Renaissance Gown Details

DETAILS:

This italian gown is inspired from paintings of Venician Royalty.  It is designed with a very high waist and low decolatage. The gown is made of entirely of a single brocade that is reveresed in colours.  The bodice, sleeves and the trim at the hem are lighter and greener, while the attached skirt is the same pattern but darker in colouring.

The outside of the bodice made of brocade and is lined in black cotton.  The bottom is entirely handstitched.  It laces up the back through hidden metal rings.

The sleeves are made of brocade both inside and outside and are interlined to give the proper shape.  Twentyone slashes adorn each sleeve, consisting of three collums each with seven openings where the chemise is to pouf out.  Each point is hand sewn for strenght and so the stitches do not show.  They attach to the bodice using small hidden loops and are laced black grosgrain ribbon, giving the wearer of this gown the option of only wearing the chemise on hot days.

The main skirt is hand cartridge pleated into the lower edge of the bodice, with a circumference of  150".  The bottom is trimed with the same brocade colouring is the bodice and sleeves.

Optional Chemise:

The chemise is made of a light weight black dupioni silk that is ankle lenght.  It is 80" at the waist. The sleeves are 40 inches long with a circumference of 30".  I made the sleeves particulary full so that there would be more than enough fabric to pull through the slashes in the sleeves.  It feels very luxurious to have all that silk against the skin.

Sizing:

The underbust measurements with the laces fully closed is about 31".  It can be worn with a 36" bust and still have some "fluff".  If your chest is fuller the bodice will still fit well with the laces fully closed.  A modesty panel allows for several more inches.

Care:

Gown must be dry cleaned and I like to scotch guard mine.  (Makes  Faire dust easier to shake out)  The chemise is washable in cold water and can be dried on light

Pricing:

The cost of this gown is 275.00.  The chemise is priced at 85.00

Gown will be shipped unhemmed, unless other arangements are made.
