Black Brocade Elizabethan Gown Information

This gown most certainly can be worn to SCA events. The details are period. It would make a lovely inspiration for a custom renaissance wedding gown done in the Elizabethan period.

The bodice and underskirt are made of black and golden yellow brocade in bold highly geometric floral inspired pattern. The fabric is mostly cotton in content The neck line and bottom edges of the bodice are piped in black for a strong well finished look. The underside of the winged epaulets are black cotton velveteen. The back closes with laces through 14 grommets that are couched in black thread. This gives durability and a proper appearance.

The sleeves are made of sage and black iridescent shot dupioni silk with strips of golden yellow ribbon couched on a diamond pattern. They are lined in black cotton and attach to the bodice using small hidden loops.

The overskirt is cartridge pleated into the waist band, with a circumference of 160".

The fore-panel is made from of sage and black iridescent shot dupioni silk that has small squares woven into the silk. Inside of each square are three faux pearls sewn on by hand. I have not counted the pearls but there are a rather considerable amount of them.
