Renaissance Dress Information

This bodice and overskirt of this renaissance gown are made of black peau de soie other wise known as Satin D'Hauteur and is imported from Japan. There is a dull sheen to it giving it the appearance and drape of period fabric. It is light weight to wear and has the very important advantages of being able to stand up to all the dust, mud, and rain that a Renaissance Faire or SCA event can have to offer. A practical and elegant fabric for a custom renaissance gown.

The trim is black with delicate deep toned gold threads woven into the ribbon making a correct geometric pattern. The trim is placed in a vertical pattern down the front of the bodice making a triangular shape. It is further used about the neck line and down the back where the closure is. Another 3 yards of trim are used on the opening edges of the split overskirt. There are winged epaulettes on the shoulders.

The sleeves and underskirt are made from an olive green antique sari that is also made of peau de soi. It has metallic green threads that for a wonderful brocade pattern. And yes! It's machine washable. While most of our gowns are not, we understand that there are days when the weather plays cruel tricks on our garb, and despite the rain and dirt, we still want to appear lovely. This type of gown will make even the most jaded of courtiers see that a Lady can appear her best even if the weather makes the rest of her court look like drowned rats.
